Anthony Muñoz School-Based Health Center

Located at Taft and South Avondale Elementary Schools, the Anthony Muñoz School-Based Health Centers' mission has been to provide primary care, mental health, dental health and health education services to the children "where they are." Administered by Neighborhood Health Care, the centers provide comprehensive school health services during school hours that increase access to health care for this elementary school aged population and their siblings, ages 0-18 years of age. Health care services provided on site or via referral address physical, social, and emotional barriers to learning that position students to better achieve life success.

Cincinnati Recreation Commission-NFL Flag Football Program

The Cincinnati Recreation Commission-NFL Flag Football Program presented by Mercy Hospitals offers well-organized, supervised fun for boys and girls ages 5 through 17. It introduces youngsters to the great game of football and fosters the development of teamwork and physical fitness by everyone involved. NFL flag football is a traditional non-contact flag football program. Boys and girls play on co-ed teams. All players are matched by age and ability. Skills taught include running, passing, and receiving. This is a great program for the children, because it allows the children the opportunity to participate in organized athletics, to be involved with the Bengals, and to keep them out of trouble on the street. Many of these children are from inner-city neighborhoods, and this kind of structured programming offers them the opportunity to develop fundamental skills.
